Dear Clarkston Community Schools Families,
If your house is anything like mine these days, there is some serious end-of-year excitement in the air! After the thrill of the last day of school, our normally busy schedule quickly gives way to slow mornings, late dinners, and a break from making three different varieties of peanut butter sandwiches each morning. Our attention turns to grilling, lazy summer days (at least for the kids), road-trips, and most importantly, the family time that all of this provides.
For those of you who are parents of our 634 members of the Clarkston Class of 2018, this summer will no doubt be a little bittersweet as your child prepares for his or her next step in life. Congratulations on this extraordinary achievement. You may not be ready, but they are.
At the CHS Commencement Ceremony this week, senior speaker Annalise Walker said:
"The Class of 2018 is a force to be reckoned with. I'm not just talking about our state champion football and basketball players, or our Team RUSH that's the best in the world! (Although they do give our school a little bit of bragging rights.) After seeing multiple classes graduate before me, I realize that this class, these people that I grew up with have incredible things to offer. I have never met or been a part of a more unique group of people in my life. I know from years of knowing you all, that all of you are capable of such great things, and have so much to offer. I can honestly say that I have never been anything less than impressed with everyone's talents, minds, and great hearts."
I echo Annalise's sentiments, and extend this beautiful compliment to all of the students of Clarkston Community Schools. They are all capable of great things and have so much to offer.
This summer, please take time to see your child's talents, and his or her mind and great heart.
Enjoy the next few months as a family, and please keep us posted on what you're doing together!
Wishing you a safe and happy summer!
