From Superintendent Ryan: Basketball Semifinals

Dear Clarkston Community Schools Families,

With a 52-31 win last night over Flint Carman-Ainsworth, our boys basketball team has advanced to the state semifinals on Friday at MSU's Breslin Center!

Many of you have asked if we will have early dismissal on Friday to allow for students to attend the game. As much as I do enjoy announcing an unexpected day off, I am sorry to say it is not feasible for us to cancel or shorten the school day for the game this year.

When we made this decision, we took into consideration the game's early start time (noon), the high number of weather-related school closings we've had this year, and our usual game attendance (a small percentage of our more than 7,500 students). Clarkston Schools has no additional conditional days remaining and further closures will result in extending the school year further into the summer. We determined that we couldn't reasonably adjust the day's schedule to accommodate for a district-wide early dismissal or school closure. Therefore, classes will be in session as usual on Friday, and our CHS Leadership team is asking all students throughout the district to wear Clarkston gear to school that day.

We understand that many students (especially in our secondary schools) have actively followed the Wolves' season and would like to be a part of the big event. Students wishing to attend the game on Friday will need to be released by their parents. Since we will be operating under our normal school schedule, regular attendance policies will apply. As always, we defer to you as parents to determine what's right for your family.

Student ticket sales will be conducted on a first come-first serve basis beginning at 6:30am on Thursday, March 22. These tickets are for 9-12 grade students only, in the designated student section. Tickets are $10, cash only, and per the MHSAA, no passes will be accepted.

Remaining pre-sale tickets may be available to the public at the CHS Athletic Office on Thursday, March 22 from 10:40am-12:15pm. Please call ahead (248.623.4002) to confirm if pre-sale tickets remain.

You may also purchase tickets through MHSAA ticket sales online (recommended). All of the game day details can be found on our Game Day webpage.
