Adult Transition Services
About
The Clarkston Community Schools Adult Transition Program is a post-secondary life skills and employment skills program servicing 18 to 26 year-old Clarkston Schools residents who are working toward a Certificate of Completion. Our program focuses on supporting students in the four main areas of transition:
- Independent Living
- Community Participation
- Employment and Training
- Functional Academics
Students participate in weekly community based instruction field trips to learn about community resources and social opportunities. They practice independent living skills such as money management, social skills and communication skills. In the classroom, we focus on teaching functional academics as well as daily living skills to help the student progress towards their level of independence.
The students participate in work based learning sites in our community to learn vocational skills and gain valuable work experience. Our work site partners provide great opportunities for our students.
