Oakland County Youth in Government Day

On February 7, a group of 9 Clarkston High School students attended the annual Youth in Government Day, an event put on by the Oakland County Board of Commissioners. Throughout this event, the students learned about county government, engaged in sustainability problem-solving with the MSU Extension 4-H team, and interacted with county officials. They also participated in a mock election, were able to use voting machines, and broke into groups to debate real-life topics. Speakers included key elected leaders, judges hosted courtroom sessions, and a Sheriff’s Office offered demonstrations from the county sheriff’s K-9 unit.
