CCS Launches Strategic Plan Community Survey
CLARKSTON, Mich. - Clarkston Community Schools(CCS) has begun the process of developing a new district strategic plan. Starting now and continuing throughout the 2024-2025 school year, CCS will develop new mission and vision statements, set goals, decide on the actions necessary to achieve the goals and mobilize the resources needed to take action over the next five years. This process will ultimately produce a roadmap of strategies that the district will use as a foundation for decision-making across our school system through 2030.
Clarkston’s current Strategic Plan has served its students, staff, and community well. However, it was created and implemented in 2019 and expires in 2025. The district has followed the plan closely over the past several years, regularly updating the Board of Education and the community with progress and success stories, including the implementation of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports(MTSS), creating numerous opportunities for students to explore different career pathways, and building a stronger sense of community through whole-person development.
The Strategic Planning Team has started reviewing the current plan to determine what goals have been accomplished, what still needs to be done, or what is no longer applicable. The Strategic Planning Team has 51 members and is an eclectic group of district and building administrators, teachers, department heads, academic and social-emotional coaches, Board of Education members, parents, and community members. Other tactics include analyzing academic data, researching best practices, and gathering feedback from students, staff, families, and community members.
The district has developed an anonymous online survey to allow all interested community members, directly connected to the district or not, to weigh in on what CCS is doing well and where there are opportunities for improvement. This 10-minute survey will ask questions that cover several areas, including academics, finance and operations, community partnerships, and more. The survey is open until June 7, 2024.
