  International Baccalaureate Programme

Clarkston High School is now offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme for students who will be graduating in 2011 and beyond. To provide some background, the International Baccalaureate Organization was founded in 1968 and currently works with 1,782 schools in 131 countries. Students enrolled in the IB Diploma Programme are involved in a demanding international curriculum that encourages divergent learning. Students share academic experiences which emphasize critical thinking and intercultural understanding. The curriculum coincides with state and national requirements. Students interested in earning the IB Diploma in addition to Clarkston Community Schools' Diploma enter the two-year program as a high-school junior (ages 16 to 19).

The IB Diploma Programme is a comprehensive and challenging pre-university course that demands the best from both motivated students and teachers. The curriculum and pedagogy of IB programmes focus on international perspectives of learning and teaching, while insisting that students fully explore their home culture and language. This sophisticated two-year curriculum covers a wide range of academic subjects and its graduates are welcomed by the world's leading universities.
