Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students meet for music education 30 minutes once per week. 

Students will experience music activities in:

• Melody
• Rhythm
• Form
• Sound Production
• Expressive Qualities

Third and Fourth Grade students meet for music education 30 minutes once per week. 

Students will engage in music activities intended to develop skills in:

• Play and singing melodies and simple harmonies.
• Recognizing, reading and performing basic rhythms in various meters.
• Analyzing simple musical forms.
• Sound production of classroom musical instruments.
• Recognizing, responding to and performing music expressively.

*Fourth grade students will attend a field trip to the Max to hear the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in the spring in conjunction with a trip to the Detroit Institute of Arts!

Fifth Grade students meet for music education 30 minutes per week.

Students will engage in music activites intended to develop skills in:

• Performing melodies and simple harmonies using recorder and other classroom instruments.
• Performing rhythms in various meters.
• Analyzing musical forms.
• Recognition and sound production of musical instruments.
• Recognizing, responding to and performing music expressively.
