Ms. Barkey received her Master Degree in Educational Psychology and Educational Specialist Degree in School Psychology from Michigan State University. She has been working as a School Psychologist for Clarkston Schools since 1990. Ms. Barkey has worked across grade levels from Elementary through Post-High School. She has worked with Clarkston's Autism programs and has had extensive experience in conducting evaluations across all disability areas as well as supporting the development of behavioral support plans for students. Ms. Barkey enjoys spending time with her three children, reading, running and cooking.
What is a School Psychologist?
The School Psychologist may conduct behavioral, social, and academic evaluations to determine if a student is eligible for special education services. They may collaborate with other support staff (e.g., Speech Pathologist, School Social Worker, general ed teacher, Occupational Therapist, etc.) and administration to support student needs. The School Psychologist may develop behavioral intervention plans related to specific needs of students, develop pre-referral strategies to support at-risk students, and provide support and consultation to all special education programs within the school district. They may facilitate Individualized Education Planning Team meetings and provide input to parents regarding the acdemic and behavioral functioning of their student.
