David Helder attended West Ottawa High School in Holland, Michigan, his hometown. He has attended nearly every Tulip Time Festival during his lifetime. If you have never gone, here are some of the sights you missed:
After high school, Mr. Helder attended Butler University, where he studied English and Latin. During his senior year, he spent four months studying abroad in Perugia, Italy. Every year, he anxiously awaits the NCAA tournament in hopes that his Bulldogs will finally reach the Elite Eight. Go Dawgs!!
In order to attain his teaching degree, Mr. Helder next attended University of Michigan. He was a student teacher at Lahser High School in Bloomfield Hills, where he taught both English and Latin.
Currently, Mr. Helder is in his fourth year of teaching at Clarkston High School. His favorite class to teach is Literature and Modern Media. He is a teacher in the school's LRC department, sponsor of the Latin Club, and co-coach of the Mock Trial Team. He is engaged to a beautiful nurse and enjoys working in the yard of his new home.
