Answers
1)  Q How often are grades updated?
A
Grades are updated as soon as the teacher enters them into their on-line grade book.
2)  Q I lost the authorization code for my child (or I never received one) how can I get one?
A
If you call the school office and request an authorization code, the school secretary will be able to provide it to you. If your child is new to the district you will need to request an authorization code. It will take a day or so to generate the code and send it to you.
3)  Q I've forgotten my password. What should I do?
A
If you have forgotten your password click the "Lost Password? Click Here" link on the Online Grades page. Enter your User ID and the email address you entered when you registered for on-line grades. If everything matches you will see a notification that your password has been emailed to you.
4)  Q I can't remember my user ID. What should I do?
A
Call your child's school office. They can look up your ID. You will be required to provide proof of ID.
5)  Q I'm trying to create my User ID but it keeps telling me "that user name already exists." What should I do?
A
You will need to choose a new user name. When you get this message it means that someone is already using that user name. Each username must be unique. Choose a different user name but be sure to use one you will remember.
6)  Q When I try to enter the authorization code I get an error that says "We could not locate any students with that code" or it just dumps me back to the original screen.
A
You are typing in an incorrect authorization code. Make sure you are typing the code exactly as it was given to you (be sure to include the hyphens.) If it still doesn't work call your school and ask them to verify the authorization code for your student.
7)  Q I see some assignments that don't have a score. Does that mean my child didn't do them?
A
If an assignment does not have a score (e.g.: /25 instead of 23/25) it simply means that the teacher has entered the assignment into their grade book but has not yet entered your child's score. For the most part, if a child does not turn in an assignment the teacher will enter a zero (0/25) in the score. Please note that this is not always the case so if you have a question please contact your child's teacher.
8)  Q Why do some assignments have dates and others do not?
A
Teachers have the option to enter assignment due dates into their grade books when they create the assignment. Many teachers to not use due dates in their grade books. If a teacher uses the due date field for a particular assignment then it will appear under the assignment name on the web page.
9)  Q Will I be able to see my child's homework in this system?
A
If the teacher enters individual homework assignments as graded tasks in their grade books then they will show up in the assignment list (accessible by clicking the class name.) Many teachers also enter the due date for these assignments. However, it is up to the individual teachers to enter this information depending on how they grade homework. Some teachers enter their homework assignments on their individual web pages.
10)  Q Can I view all my children from one school web site even though they attend different schools?
A
Yes. Once you have set up your user ID, password and appropriate authorization codes you can access all of your children's grades from any secondary school (SMS, CJHS or CHS.)
11)  Q Are these the "official" grades?
A
Remember that the grades online reflect your child's grade at a specific point in time. Grades are not official until the end of the marking period when they are recorded in the transcript system.
